Originally named Oudemansiella longipes (St. Amans) Moser var. americana Mitchel & Smith, Micro by D.H. Mitchel & Vera S. Evenson Spores: smooth (11.2) 7.4-9-9 x 5.0 - 6.2 micrometers, elliptical; some spores (in context) are reddish purple. Some immature spores +/- dextranoid. Micro.: cystidia at gill edge and face, numerous bulging to elongated, pear-shaped, clavate; 43-65 x 10-17 micrometers. Basidia 30-45 x 8-10 micrometers. Gill trama interwoven. Cuticle: many fibrils (hyphae?) projecting from edge which is densely colored. Hypoderm contains numerous pear-shaped cells among hyphae. Hairs 200-400 micrometers long x 4-8 micrometers wide to 15 micrometers at bulb. Hyaline to sl. yellow. Pigmented layer 150-200 wide. Data card contains sketches.
