cap 3-4 cm wide; conical with an acute umbo becoming bell-shaped to convex: dark brown becoming paler with age; streaked, smooth, fragile. gills-adnexed to nearly free; mocerately close; whitish becoming pinkish as spores mature. general aspect: stalk 4-8 cm long; equal to slightly tapered upward; longitudinally twisted lines; fragile; grayish white at base becoming grayish brown towards the cap.
