Gregarious and cespitose on the ground under wood from a well rotted oak log.
Thin, cylindrical, finger-like projections, to 7 cm tall and ~3 mm broad. Pointed at apex, white and powdery above, charcoal black below. Minutely pimpled. Flesh pure white, tough, but somewhat pliant when fresh (bending, then breaking cleanly). Some specimens branched from a common base.
