Yes, A. calyptroderma - date is helpful (A. vernicoccora is primarily a spring species, February-April or so), while A. calyptroderma is usually Oct-Dec. Also, A. vernicoccora is never this darkly pigmented.
Amanita calyptroderma or vernicoccora? Older specimen for sure. Cap was about 18cm across, stipe was 22cm, volva and base broke off when I was digging it out. Didn't have my camera with me as I was out running, but had to at least bring it back to check it out.
