My collection of this has a cyanobacteria as the photobiont; the ascomata are actually immersed apothecia but without a hand lens they look more like perithecia; there are many small, globose spores (>>8) per ascus; several apothecia per squammule; the medulla is really loose and openmaking the squammules feel like they are inflated/hollow; the tops of the squammules are flattened
