Both typical Clathrus archeri and Aseroe rubra grow on my section. Here they are side by side - growingt in mulch. Note the differences in size and the gleba along the arms of C. archeri and in the centre of A. rubra. Now I am not popular because these collections are on the drier and the house stinks. But then there are those pesky Auckland Clathrus collections that look like Aseroe, with bifurcate forked arms, except they are still big and still have the gleba spread down the arms. Sometimes the arms remain joined at the tips. Sequence data says they are all Clathrus archeri.
