Mixed conifers; White Fir, Douglas-fir, Ponderosa Pine, with scattered Black Oak and incense-cedar.
Soil.
Cap 48-79 mm across. Moist, finely scaly, stipe 52-78 mm long, 22-29 mm thick at apex, equal or tapered lower. Partial veil leaving a faint annular zone, pores staining pinkish brown, flesh yellowish, staining orangish brown, and bluish in lower stipe. Taste mild to sour, odor Suillus-like.
Scattered under Douglas-fir and White Fir, with Gomphidius smithii.
