In general the two white clavulina clubs with tea-tree are C. subrugosa which tends to form simple clubs, and C. cristata var. zealandica (which is actually unrelated to C. cristata) which forms branched clubs. Unfortunately it isn't a strict rule. There is also supposed to be differences in spore size, buts sequence data indicates that doesn't always work either. So I have yet to find a fool-proof way of separating them. C. cristata var. zealandica also occurs with beech.
