Growing near Carya ovata, Quercus sect. Lobatae, Cornus sp., Ulmus sp. and Acer saccharum.
Tasted bitter but not strongly bitter. Pores bruised brown. Apex of stem white with very weak, fine reticulation. Context white, slowly and weakly staining light pink before fading to brown. Basal mycelium white. Cap and stem becoming slightly more brown with NH4OH. 5% KOH reddish-orange on cap and stem, yellowish on context. 10% FeSO4 negative on cap and context.
