Growing scattered at the base of a Quercus sect. Quercus near Fagus grandifolia, Prunus serotina, Crataegus sp. and Acer saccharum. May have overlooked other hardwoods. Fruiting bodies growing partially buried when young. Stems with marginate basal bulbs. Caps were dry when I found them but they had adhering debris. Caps and stems white to off-white; 3.40 cm wide in cap measured. Young gills pale brown. Gills with 2 tiers of lamellulae. ~56 total full length gills on one basidiocarp (calculated by counting the number in rough 1/4 of cap and multiplying that by 4). Spore print rusty brown. White cortinas forming annuli on stems and also leaving some remnants on the rim of the bulb and the cap margin. Fruiting body 2.93 cm tall (0.97 cm cap + 1.96 cm stem). Stem 1.27 cm wide at widest part of bulb; 1.08 cm wide at apex; 0.88 cm wide at mid portion. Gills ~1.06 cm wide.
