Resupinate polypore under bark and outer wood of White Oak (Quercus alba) log on ground. Log section was about 2 m long.
Fungus is mostly in a sealed space in woody layer several cm below bark and along the bottom of the entire length of the 2 m log. Pore surface purple-red (more so than in some of the photos) and soft to touch where no exposed. The outer wood layer detached readily; inner surface bright yellow. Yellow spores visible.
