Probably. If not then an unknown Lentinus. N. lepideus has turned up a lot his year but it is an introduced species and usually associated with pine stumps here.

Probably past it for identification purposes. Solitary fruiting body emergent from base of pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) ( amongst roots), oak (Quercus robur), rawirinui (Kunzea robusta) and rewarewa (Knightia excelsa) present nearby. Stipe scaly, scales orange-brown flaking. gills white with orange cast toward apices, pileus disc-shaped, silvery grey above.
