ID based on the ribbed to reticulate stipe, colour and general appearance. It is not P. parsonsiae (both P. australis and P. parsonsiae are common locally in native bush in East Auckland and the stipe is never as stout or distinct in P. parsonsiae (or ribbed) and the fruit bodies are never this dark). Nor is it any of the other Pleurotus species found in NZ.
