Photograph is of a large fruiting of Albatrellus avellaneus taken in Tillamook County, Oregon just prior to the 2003 Oregon Mycological Society Fall Forage at Camp Magruder. As A. avellaneus is considered rare and endangered, I will not divulge the exact location. I recognize the photos are rather obscure, as they were taken from 20-30 feet away with the zoom function of my camera. Nonetheless, Dr. Lorelei Norvell and others at the fall forage confirmed this identification. Nor was this the only collection location found of Albatrellus avellaneus during that forage.
