This lone specimen was growing in sandy soil near Live oaks and a semi-grassy area. It was fairly large, measuring about 11.0 cm high and 7.5 cm across. It had a large sterile base with a brown cottony gleba. The peridium seemed thin, which seems to eliminate Calvatia, but it also appeared too large for a Lycoperdon? The spores were approx. 4.1-5.2 microns with fairly prominent spines.
