HABITAT recently lightly-burned open oak forest high on north slope; SUBSTRATE bark of Quercus chrysolepis at chest height; ASPECT partly shaded; NOTES whitish thin to greenish lumpy crust, some pale green soralia from break down of both whitish and greenish parts of thallus; ASCOCARP mottled pale to black, biatorine, slightly convex, shiny thin even slightly raised margins, all parts hyaline, exciple with gelantinized ~round hyphae?, paraphyses simple with very swollen final cell and next-to last cell also somewhat swollen in many cases especially in K, ascus tip apparently entirely IKI+ blue with IKI- wall all around; SPORES 8 per ascus?, fusiform, multi-septate (more than 6 in at least some but hard to see in most), hyaline, somewhat broader toward one end, straight, 20-40 x 2.5 m (very variable length).
