Entoloma sp. found in mixed Hemlock and Oak woods growing from the ground. Spores scraped from a spore print taken on glass are initially collapsed/cruciform when viewed under the microscope. Spores rehydrate/fill out in typical microscopy mountant solutions such as 7% Ammonia or 10% glycerol in water or Melzer's and the "filled out" spores were used for measurements: 20 spore average 10.4 x 7.3 µm, Qm = 1.4. The rehydration is gradual (20+ minutes) and in this case results in typical 5-6 sided prismatic spores. One photomicrograph of not fully rehydrated spores is included below. I have observed this phenomenon with other (but not all) Entolomas. See Obs 104628 for another such example.
