On ground under conifers-mostly hemlock and white pine. Cap up to 8 cm, pale pink brown, convex. Pore surface whitish bruising pale brown, tubes pinkish and peeling easily from cap, sunken near stem in age. Stem pale brown, netted on top 1/3 of stalk, swollen base, tapered at apex, up to 10 cm x 2 cm. Flesh of cap and stem white--no bruising. Spore deposit pale pink brown.
