On mossy ground under balsam fir in mixed woods which include birch, beech and maple. Cap 42mm., convex with sunken center and in-rolled margin, whitish, bruising yellow brown, velvety feel, no scales. Gills white. Stem 40 mm. x 18 mm., white, bruising slightly yellow brown, velvety feel. Milk white, peppery, staining gills yellow brown. No distinctive odor. Acrid taste. KOH on cap stains pink. The velvety feel and lack of scales distinguish it from MO #139480.
