Found in the Turkey Creek Unit of the Big Thicket National Preserve. Growing on charred ground, probably over buried wood or stump. Caps up to 4.2 cm across. Flesh creamy and tough as was the stipe. "Gills" decurrent and very short and shallow, more like ridges, with some forking. Odor and taste was mild. Have not been able to find any spores. Distinctive and substantial but not sure how to classify(?).
