Three of four fruiting bodies growing on the south/west side of Coopers road (at the juncture with the Red Trail near Pakim Pond) under mature pitch pine and oak. Two fbs were collected, photographed and preserved. One of the fbs had pale vinaceous droplets exuding from the pore surface. The exposed context consistently stained blue -- the reaction had a quick onset (~15 sec) and gradually intensified over 1-2 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn't check the pores for bluing. KOH stained the pellicle pinkish-magenta; upon absorption of the reagent, the color was deep vinaceous-brown. Ammonia vapors stained the pellicle the same color. I may have performed tests on the flesh, but I didn't take pix or make notes. A second collection was made on Oct. 18 and posted as obs 257442.
