A single immature fruiting body growing along the Blue Trail in pine-oak woods. Macro-morphology puts this one into sect. Validae. This assignment in conjunction with the pleasant minty-fruity to anise-fruity odor suggests A. submaculata. It is an unusually late fruiting for this summer species (all MO obsies reported from June through September). We literally see this taxon once in the blue moon in the Pine Barrens. This collection was preserved for RET.
