Growing solitary in black mulch under Tilia along a path near Taxus sp. Almost definitely mycorrhizal with Tilia sp. Odor potato-like. Taste mealy. Cap plane and purple-brown over most of the disc except for a lighter center and a whitish margin. Cap margin inrolled. Cap not rugulose, not spotted, did not have universal veil remnants and did not seem to be hygrophanous. Lamellae adnexed, without tears and with a smooth white edge. Base of stipe tapered and discoloring yellowish-brown. Stipe not rooting, without universal veil remnants and without mycelial cords. Did not notice a cortina. Stipe context hith a white, hollow center and a buff exterior.
