The specimen is about 12-14 inches wide and about 3-4 inches thick. it is growing from the base and apex of the trunk on an ornamental plum tree. Its colors range from dull burgundy red to vanished orange across the pileus. Its pore surface is white with small tightly spaced pores. It was firm but almost malleable when squeezed. I will attempt to retrieve a spore sample for microscopy tomorrow. At first I thought it was G. oregonense, but upon further thought I don't believe G. oregonense grows on plum. It may possibly be G. lucidum. Update: Spores are 10.3 x 7.4 um smooth and ovoid in shape. Update 8/13: KOH indicator test resulted in darkening on all surfaces to almost black. A cross section of the specimen shows white striations on a predominantly brown internal surface.
