In mixed woods, primarily Eastern White Pine and Oak. Dry, white, somewhat shiny planoconvex cap measuring ~10 cm in width. Cap with off-white/pale grey pyramidal warts transitioning to small scales towards the cap edge. Odor of burnt sugar. Gills very narrowly attached, close, off-white, with many short gills. 14 cm long stem is white, with a white skirt-like ring. Stem widens to a coarsely scaly bulb, with at least two rows of scales that have minimal pinkish-brown staining. Stem tapers to a rounded point at the base of the bulb.
