A single fruitbody growing in rich humus over sand in pine & oak(?) woods across from 23 Laurel Ln 08088 (Tibbs Lake area). The cap is 7.5 cm in diameter and its flesh is 0.8 cm thick in the middle; the gills are 6-7 mm wide; the curved stipe is ~8 cm long, 1.3 cm wide at the apex/juncture with the stipe, 1.1 cm wide at its narrowest point (~2 cm below the apex) and 2.5 cm wide max in the bulbous base. The appressed PV/annulus is positioned just below the mid-point of the stipe. The exposed flesh slowly turned pale pink around the stipe-cap junction, just above the gills and along the edges in the upper part of the stipe. The odor is sweet and pleasant, with a bitter chocolate note; no info on the taste. KOH on cap = negative. Spore measurements TBD. The specimen was not saved on account of it being old and insect-damaged.
