Resupinate growth from which develop small, very hairy caps. These 1-2 cm. caps fuse horizontally into long strips. Hairs on caps measure 1 mm. in length. Pores are 1 to 2mm. in size. I can see very slight hints of violet in both the hairs (thumbnail image) and the pores (image # 2060) in certain light conditions. Specimens are fruiting on top and sides of large, very decayed log in mixed woods, primarily oak and hickory. The violet makes me wonder if this might be a species of Trichaptum or perhaps just an artifact due to light conditions.
