At Sandy Neck Conservation Area, a roughly 7-mile long barrier beach on Cape Cod Bay. The species may actually be fairly numerous here. I spotted several specimens here and at other locations on Sandy Neck, but I have not yet seen it anywhere else on Cape Cod. It is prostate, lying flat to the sand and has a distinct yellowish cast similar to that of dry Cladonia uncialis. It also has a bumpy surface.
