This species has been fruiting abundantly throughout the neighborhood for a week or so. This pair fruiting in the grassy easement between the sidewalk and the street, suburban residential area; partially buried in the soil. Larger of the pair: 7 cm. X 6 cm. X 5.8 cm. high. 0.5 cm. rind pinkish when sliced. Black spore mass is still solid/hard with white "threads" throughout. I usually find this species only after the skin has split into rays and spore mass has turned to a dark brown powder. White mycelium at the base. KOH yellowish on surface.
