Most under Douglas-fir, some in disturbed areas. Often clustered and fruiting in substantial number. Annulus present and obvious, white brown markings. Caps medium brown to chestnut in color; very finely tomentose. Small size. Most caps about 1.5 in diameter. Flesh in cap, stipe and pores bright neon yellow, palest in cap. Partial veil remnants at cap margin white with dull yellow-cream. Stipes solid and generally about the length of the cap, yellow and dotted brown. Pores deep sepia brown. Upon bruising/cutting, no color change except for the flesh in the stipe center slowly darkening a bit. Pores already bruised brown apparently
