Pileus thick, compact, hemispheric, solitary, nearly 10 cm. broad; surface smooth, glabrous, shining, not at all viscid, very light-brown; margin entire, slightly projecting, concolorous; context firm, nearly white with a yellowish tinge, changing to blue when wounded and later returning to ifs original color; tubes adnate, separating with age, about 1 cm. long, concave to plane in mass, yellowish, mouths small, angular, pink; spores oblong-ellipsoid, smooth, pale yellowish-brown under a microscope from dried specimens, 11-12.5 x 4-5 µm; stipe very much swollen at the center, contracted at the apex and base, perfectly even and glabrous, concolorous with a rosy tint in certain parts, yellowish at the base, solid, yellowish-white within, 9 cm. long, 7 cm. thick at the center.
