Pileus 6-12 mm, conical to nearly plane with age, with a slight obtuse umbo in age, margin decurved; velipellis none, often recurved scaly, dry; dark brown (10YR 4/3-3/3), the underlying flesh pale brown; context thin, odor absent. Lamellae adnexed, subdistant to moderately close with several tiers of lamellulae, medium, ventricose; pale brown to yellowish brown, edges pallid-fimbriate. Stipe 17-22 x 1-2 mm, terete, even or with a slightly swollen base, not distinctly bulbous; veil not observed, surface dry, pruinose most of length, finely stiatulate; dusky red (2.56YR 3/2) to reddish brown (5YR 4/3), extreme base white. Spores 11-12.5 x 8.5-11.5 microns, spinose with an occasional bifid or wedge-shaped nodule, spinose acutely conical and ca. 2.5 microns long. Basidia 43 x 11.5 microns, 4-spored. Pleurocystidia not observed. Cheilocystidia 28 x 17 microns, utriform, fusiform, to ventricose, hyaline, thin-walled, mixed with shorter clavate paracystidia. Caulocystidia in dense clusters descending to the lower part of the stipe.
