The personal notes of Alexander H. Smith are attached to the data specimen card. Microscopic analysis by Vera S. Evenson on Feb. 4, 1979: Spores: 10-12.5 x 6-6.8 microns. Rugose more or less thick walled. Many 'shells' or empty coats pale pinkish ochre in melzers. Elliptic to almond shaped with inequel profile. Pale yellow in KOH with large oil drops. Micro: Basidia - 21-26 x 7-9 microns. 4 spored clavate. Pleurocyst - more seen. Cheiloriptidia - fusiform with elong. necks, apices obtuse, hyaline, smooth walls. Not capitate, 28 - 63 x 6-12 microns. Cuticle: a thin ixolattice, hyphae very narrow, some incrusted with v. pale ochre pigment, few clamps, irreg. branching hyphae. Hypoderm - distinct pigmented brownish cellular walls thinly encrusted, cells more or less globose to ovate. Phileal trama - closely interwoven yellowish hyphae 5-8 microns diam.
