On decayed wood
Fruiting body arising from very decayed wood, numerous rhizomorphs attached to the base and penetrating the substratum, a fairly large number of primary stalks arising close to each other and with interwoven mycelim, often more or less grown together, primary stalk about 1-1.5 cm. by 4-8 mm. , secondary branches 3-7 and these branching repeatedly, branches all erect and strict but often somewhat crooked, angles very acute, apparently sterile--no hymenium in axils--smooth, apices acute, often with one or two stubby projections; color evenly "cinnamon" to "pinkish cinnamon" , fading to buff, apices concolon taste acrid, odor none.
