The hillside woods composed of hemlock [Tsuga canadensis], maple [Acer sp.], few beech [Fagus grandifolia]; but just where these plants grew, hemlock not inclined to be so predominating.
I suppose this is Cl. crassipes Pk., altho not from the same woods my #73 was taken (1/2 mile distant). The dried specimen taken 7 Sept. the spore print. Color as your flesh of hands; the tips seem sort of hygrephagnous, but possibly this due to moisture last escaping there; to my eye this character gives sort of a pinky tinge to the tips...The flesh is whitish (i noted no color change as Peck states in plants I tried; altho it may be present). There is no special taste or odor. The fresh plants taken 16 S.; you will also find some deformation among the fresh collection.
