Solitary in humus in mixed woods.
Cap och to och buff. Flesh of pileus reddish to testaceous. Blackish in base. FeSO4 blue. Guaiac positive. U.I. [Universal Indicator] orange on pileus, red in mid portion of stipe, slowly orange-yellow.
