Gregarious in humus in mixed woods.
Flesh slowly gray-fuscous in pileus and stipe apex. Yellow in base of stipe fading, erratically green-blue. Tubes fuscous when exposed. FeSO4 blue-gray. U. I. [Universal Indicator] orange-red. Guaiac positive.
