Gregarious in soil under mixed Pinus albicaulis and Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii).
Pileus 5-7 cm broad, convex, becoming broadly convex to irregular in outline with age, viscid surface, glabrous, but often streaked, white when young, becoming ochraceous and eventually chocolate brown, often somewhat variegated. No evidence of false veil but slight remains near base of stipe. Tubes yellow, 0.5-1 mm. Pores yellow, not truly boletinoid, not bruising. Stipe white, with abundant glands, dry.
