Growing singly on the ground on oak leaves/hardwood duff
Cap 1.5 cm wide, nearly plane, orangish-buff, finely wrinkled (but not pleated), somewhat darker at the center and paler towards the margin. Margin somewhat striate when moist. Gills attached, somewhat close, creamy whitish. Stipe 5.5 cm long, ~2-3 mm thick, rooting, equal, finely velvety, tough (but still pliant when fresh), dark reddish-brown to nearly black, but fading in a short gradient to off-white close to the attachment of the pileus. Odor not distinctive. Spore print white. Spore print included with collection.
