Basidiospores (4.9)5.6–6.1–7.0(7.3) (3.0)3.2–3.4-3.7(3.8) µm, Q (1.44)1.58–1.79–2.06(2.09) (n=33/1), elliptic to amygdaliform with rounded or bluntly pointed apices, surface finely punctate, wall slightly thickened, pale yellowish brown to pale yellowish in KOH, apiculus very small and not conspicuous. Basidia 23–29 5–7 µm, mostly 4-sterigmate, slenderly clavate, not pigmented. Pleurocystidia absent. Cheilocystidia 19–30 4–8 µm, variably or irregularly shaped – slenderly clavate, digitform, subventricose or subfusiform, apices rounded or less often somewhat lobed, at times flexuous, thin-walled, not pigmented. Lamellar tramal hyphae cylindric, smooth, thin-walled, lacking pigment, cells 3–12 µm wide.
The pale cinnamon pileus color and wider spores distinguish C. cinnamomeus from the otherwise very similar Crepidotus variabilis. The species has a wide intercontinental distribution occurring in various regions of western North America, Europe, and east Asia (same as an obviously mislabeled ITS sample of C. “reticulatus”).
