Beech-magnolia-loblolly pine hammock
PILEUS 5.5-7 cm broad, plano-convex, dry, velvety, with a 0.5 mm sterile margin, colored 1.25Y 7/6 (near Chamois)with 7.5YR 4/6 (Sudan Brown) stains; CONTEXT 12-15 mm thick, odor fruity, taste mild, colored 7.5Y 8.5/6 (near Pinard Yellow) staining 7.5B 5/2 (near Medici Blue) to 7.5B 5/4 (no Ridgeway equivalent), fading to dingy yellow; TUBES at first slightly depressed then subdecurrent by lamellate lines, 7-9.5 mm long, 1-2/mm, colored 5Y 8.5/6 (Baryta Yellow) bruising as context, then reddish brown some blackish spots; STIPE curved, 6.5-10 cm long, 7-14 mm broad, + equal, dry, longitudinally lines present from near apex to base, solid, context marbled, colored ? , bruising 10YR 4/6 (no Ridgeway equivalent) below, some 2.5YR 3/6 (Chestnut) stains, 7.5Y 8.5/10 (Lemon Yellow) mycelium at base SPORE PRINT from cap ? 5Y 5/4 (Citrine); SPORES subfusoid, smooth, no amyloid reactions, 9-11 x 3.5-4 µm; CUTICLE interwoven hyphae with end cells; CHEMICAL TESTS 5% KOH cuticle 10YR 4/6 (no Ridgeway equivalent), context browning, tubes slightly darkening. Concentrated ammonia cuticle slight reddish brown, little reaction on context and tubes. Color photo.
