Under conifer in duff
GenBank Accession #: TBS (ITS). Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 1966 14(2): 37. Notes by D. Southworth, Southern Oregon University 5 Feb 201 5: "Tissue sliver taken March 2013 for spore staining and measurements and for DNA to aid in distinguishing specimens collected in Josephine Co., Oregon, among the dark staining species of Rhizopogon subgenus Amylopogon. Spores dimensions (n = 20): means 7.1 × 3.3 µm, Q = 2.2, ranges 5.5–8.5 µm × 2.5–4, Q = 1.8–3.0. In 87% of 115 spores, Melzer’s reagent stained the entire spore dark violet; in 13%, spores were stained in the distal three-fourths to one-half. All spores attached to a single basidium were equally stained dark violet. Digital images on file. We sequenced the ITS, but have not yet submitted it to GenBank."
