Scattered, beneath Quercus sp., growing among mulch.
PIleus convex, maroonish red, becoming yellow-red at margin finely rimose, thin layer; context pale yellow, slowly blueing; pore surface yellow, pores irregularly shaped, 2-4 pores per mm, tubes blueing when exposed, tubes ca. 3 mm long, pores somewhat irregularly shaped, surface blueing mildly to touch; stipe to 5 cm long by 1 cm wide, uniform diameter throughout, brownish yellow, striate-fibrillose. Odor -, taste mildly sour.
