on stumps of oak
Pilius rigid sessile whitish to almost black. Margins mostly thick & obtus. Context palid or light brown (not pure white). Tubes whitish to umber daedaloid or lamellate the walls thick, obtuse various forms from the young smooth knob to well grown specimens.
Some of these forms are very hard to distinguish from Daedalea fragosa Fries.
