Hydnellum peckii Banker
Verbatim Date: 2012-10-09
United States, Washington, Huckelberry Trail
Shaded in overstory of conifer trees I spotted a Hydrellum peckii or also known as "Strawberries and cream". This was growing on a Western Hemlock (Tsgua heterophylla) Root. I noticed the specimen had teeth and was growing along side of the root. The caps were white and the debris was intermixed in the specimen. Black Huckelberry (Vaccinium membranaceaum) and (T. heterophylla) were the dominant species present.
