Note: Need assistance making the correct ID for this fungus. Did some online research to try and come up with an ID and our ID is iffy and tentative. Thanks! -- Red-banded Polypore (Fomitopsis pinicola) 23 October 2015: We're not really sure about this ID for this fungus that was growing out of the side of a decaying large tree trunk in the forested riparian part of the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge (TRNWR) in Sherwood, Oregon. Need assistance in making the proper ID for this rather large fungus represented in the four images that are posted with this observation. This is our first post of a fungus to iNat and we decided to go ahead and post it rather than leave it outside of circulation in the hope that someone on iNat can make the correct ID. Thanks in advance of your assistance in doing so. We did look at some 100 or so images of fungi in Oregon on several websites in our attempt to narrow it down some to the ID we have very tentatively proposed. Cheers!
