Initially I believed this to be the rare mushroom Stropharia abiveleta, but after more research and contact by one of the authorities in the field, I believe this is Psathyrella longistriata. While the expected habitat for Stropharia is think pine duff, I found several references to P. longistriata growing in mixed pine-oak woodlands which this is. Alternatively, it may be a currently undescribed but very similar species, but the recommendation was that I list this as Psathyrella longistriata for now with the knowledge that future revisions to the genus may change the ID. One of the key features that separate Psathyrella from Stropharia is Stropharia's frequently viscid cap and darker spores. The habitat was a mixed oak, Gray Pine, and Toyon woodland.
