Pileus: Dayglo orange, brilliant.
Stipe: .5 – 2cm; concolorous with the pileus.
Hymenium layer: at first concolorous with the pileus, becoming lighter in age.
Taste: Becoming slightly hot, like pepper.
Odor: Pleasant and fruity after sitting in bag.
Habitat: Under oak on mossy ground. Fruiting by the thousands.
Some of the stipes have a double pileus, and the stipe is double wide on these; fused. Cantharellus minor is similar but the taste is described as not distinctive or pleasant in that species.
