"Boletus indecisus. (A note accompanying my description says, "Find specimen. Herb. no. 536 is true B. alutarius, and has been so referred here.") Cap finely tomentose, the tomentum finely cracked in places into areolae which are visible only under a hand-lens. Color as shown. Tubes reaching the stem and attached, but with a deep depression ("channel"). Mouths small, angular to subrotund; colors as shown, turning brown; on sectioning, turning to a dull reddish tint--not to bluish red. Flesh white, unchangeable, mild to the taste. Stem not slender enough for B. gracilis; exterior minutely furfuraceous, not at all reticulate, but striate throughout the apical part with a few raised lines that scarcely anastomose at the very top. Colors as shown. Flesh of stem white, unchangeable. Spore dimensions will settle the question of identity. Compare with B. gracilis." - L. C. C. Krieger
