Cluster of fruit bodies with a velvety purplish black-brown cap with an inturned margin and purplish tone to the flesh beneath. The gills are attached and descending and yellow-mustard in colour. The stipe has a ring zone and has a purple-green hue on the outer surface. Fruit body size up to 5.5 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height. The spores appear to be finely warty. Fruiting on freshly fallen large branch amongst a group of trees which had fallen over in a landslide following heavy rain. Remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest.
